CCARES Improves Field Day Performance

The standings for Field Day 2011 are now published in the December 2011 issue of QST Magazine, the magazine of the ARRL, starting on page 72. Those looking for the K6CCR figures will find them on page 84 under the heading "3F."

CCARES had a score of 2,870 for 2011. This compares to our 2010 score of 1,942. In 2011 we had a total of 555 on-the-air contacts, compared to 348 last year. So in the competition with ourselves, we did an excellent job in 2011.

Nationwide, in 2011 we came in we came in with a tie for 631, out of a total of 2,632 groups that were competing. This was at the 76th percentile for all groups. For comparison, in 2010 we were tied for 934, out of a total of 2,617 groups participating. Last year we were at the 64th percentile for all groups, a great improvement.

According to the screen shots (provided by Don Minkoff, NK6A), CCARES performance was FIRST among those groups in the SW division who were operating out of an EOC, with 3 stations continuously on the air (Category “3F”). Nationwide CCARES was SEVENTH in the same category.

So - thank you to all who participated. Thanks especially to Captain Bill Heins and the Culver City Fire Department for all of their assistance and encouragement.

Let's plan on doing it again in 2012 - mark your calendars for June 23 & 24.

73,

Bob Pine
