President’s Report October 22, 2023

Good evening, CC-ARES!

What can I say about last week, except that it rocked!  I was very pleased to see so many turn out for our Shakeout exercise.  Everyone did quite well and, although there were some challenges, the challenges were overcome.  Thank you again to all who participated and also those who, though they could not be there on Thursday, helped us to prepare!

I received three complete headset units from Heil Sound. They come with a foot switch for PTT, thus freeing up hands for typing or other things. They go over the left ear, leaving the right to listen to ambient noise so that other instructions and information can be heard from your right ear.  I plan to acquire three more so that all go boxes and EOC radios will have headsets available.

I expect an online meeting this week with the Shakeout organizations so that we can get feedback and identify good practices as well as items where we need to improve.  During yesterday’s Club Day, some items were identified that we can improve upon with simple, self-contained exercises that will pay big dividends during a real world activation.

We will continue to prepare for the MRSE (Medical Response and Surge Exercise) next moth.  This will on,y require about a half dozen of us while we practice “…the other side…” of the operation which we expect after a major disaster.  If you are interested in prep and training for this exercise, please advise at president@ccares.net

I plan to attend tomorrow night’s City Council meeting to brief them on our recent efforts and upcoming activities.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

We have nominations for the five elected officers of the Board of Directors next month with elections at our General Meeting in December. We have been without a Treasurer for months now. This is not a difficult office but it does require some time as well as careful attention to detail. Please consider accepting a nomination for that office.

On the weekend of January 27-28th, we will have Winter Field Day. We will begin planning soon.

Please excuse my possible absence from tonight’s Net, Corrie & I are out on the town in celebration of 18 years of marital bliss.  Please relay us in…

I wish everyone a very pleasant week, 7-3, and I hope to hear from you on the net next week!
